offerings

I will find the notes

upon which

 our souls are set-

and blow aloud

calling all pieces to rise

and parts re-meet-

and walk from this place-

intact, supple

unbranded by hate

-

unyielding to class and social standing-

I know my place-

I have not fallen from my own grace

because I have named my family

Worthy and Most Beloved Friend.

Gathering my sisters and brothers of the yam for a day or two of back-strap weaving.

Weaving is a subversive act of self remembering, of bonding personally and authentically with others, strengthening the fabric of our shared narratives, identities, memories and dreams, thread by thread.

Weaving as a group around a tree, we weave belts over the course of a day, writing and sewing prayers and objects into those belts for ourselves and each other. There is something alchemical and powerful in gathering our threads together, weaving and stitching them allowing soul expression to emerge and transform us. As we connect with ourselves and each other through weave and stitch, we tend our wounds, explore and change our internal narratives and begin the work of mending what is torn, thinned or frayed.

walking the bones

Walking together, walking alone, along the thin chalk paths of the Sussex Downs, in the space between ground and our footsteps we create space in ourselves for new thoughts and ideas to dwell; maybe an inspiration for a new colour, a song or story; maybe a sense of grounding and clarity of vision; maybe wisdom that anchors considered and intelligent change and response to crises, alongside ideas for activism. Can we rest and enjoy companionship and communion with the land and wildlife in motion?

in this skin

Together, creating a warm experience through embodied art practices, we create a full size painting of ourselves exploring how we perceive ourselves, presencing the accepted and rejected and bring those exiled parts back into matter and celebrating this skin we’re in.

Next Date: 4- part experience 10 am -13.00. Contact me for further details.

who

These offerings are currently for those souls in skins from the global majority oppressed, exploited, marginalised and othered due to the amount of melanin in their skin and those who have less proximity to European whiteness mythology and those othered because of their gender and sexual expression and identity.

where

I hold space at an organic wild garden called Breathing Space in Stanmer Park on the outskirts of Brighton. The garden has a large woven willow den, fireside camp, various benches, and a pond. The park has ancient woodlands and Bronze Age burial grounds (tumuli) and leads out onto the broader Sussex Downs Way, a chalk bone path leading from Eastbourne to Winchester.

If you can gather 3-12 and suggest a space to work, I can travel to you. I am particularly delighted to attend rural areas.

1-1 psychotherapy & counselling sessions are held online or telephone.
